`bright cyan`The Game
Franchise Football is similar, although not entirely the same as
Franchise Basketball. Franchise Football adds several options,
including many that make the football experience better.
In Franchise Football, you are the owner / general manager / coach
of a professional football franchise. As this, you are responsible
for making your team the best it can be. Of course, this takes
money, along with talent. In your role as owner and general
manager, you must make money to improve your team and attract fans
(as well as win the Championship). In addition, you will be given
opportunities to acquire new players (registered version) to fill
in many of the blank spots in your lineup.
The game is basically broken into two major segments for simplicity.
The first is the player segment (see below). Here you manage all of
your players, including releasing, training, and switching positions.
The second is the front office. It is here that you manage all of
your finances and actually call the offensive and defensive play
styles... (basically everything that does not directly deal with
players)
`bright cyan`The Player Segment
As mentioned above, here you can manipulate your players, swapping
roster positions, changing squads, training, switching positions,
releasing, benching, and more. In order to do many of the things
here you must have cash (not money in the bank). So be warned that
you must take money out of the bank before you can use it.
`bright cyan`The Front Office
The front office has two major categories, the business options, and
the coaching options. Business options include buying advertising,
additional concession stands, scheduling promotional days, licensing
merchandise, building new stadiums, setting ticket prices, and
handling money to and from the bank.
The coaching options are broken down into three choices for offense
and three choices for defense. These three choices represent the
most likely play call for the respective down (meaning, if Offense
option #2 is a Run Sweep, then your team will more likely run a sweep
play than a short pass on second down). The plays your team runs are
not restricted to the three options chosen, but setting these can
greatly affect the style of your teams game play. ( if you have all
three sets set to some sort of passing play, your team will pass the
vast majority of the time... most likely 60 - 80%, and your
quarterback may have upwards of 50-60 pass attempts ). This option
allows you to tailor your team as you see fit. Remember, passing
teams often have trouble controlling the clock, whereas running clubs
tend to keep the score low and control the ball.
`bright cyan`Wins and Losses
Your record greatly effects attendance, and thus cash. The better
the team, the more people want to see them. There is definitely a
mix between factors to be truly successful.
`bright cyan`The Season
Franchise Football allows the system operator or game organizer to
customize how many days will be between games, and the total number
of games that will be played in the regular season. You can always
check these variables by going to the instruction menu and choosing
the League Settings option. You should be aware of the time between
games so you may check your team in a timely manner and adjust all
factors that need attention.
`bright cyan`Perpetual Reset
The perpetual reset is a concept originally added to Franchise
Basketball, that allows registered users to play multiple seasons
with the same team of players, rather than drafting a new team
each season. Franchise Football takes this option to a new level.
In FFBL, users keep not only their team, but their stadium,
concessions, merchandising and most of their fame and money. This
makes the perpetual season even more exciting, as users build their
Franchise up over several seasons. To insure that the game does
not get uncompetitive after several consecutive seasons, the
sysop may set FFBL to do a complete reset after 1-20 perpetual
seasons. In other words after 1-20 perpetual seasons, all
users will draft an entirely new team and begin from scratch.
You can check all FFBL settings under the League Settings option
on the Instruction menu.
